FYI, for those of you in Texas, WIMN will be involved in several media education events this week in San Antonio, TX, starting today and through the end of the week.

Today, March 1, I will be helping San Antonio College’s Women’s Center and the WINS! Leadership Group kick of Women’s History Month, with a lecture on gender, race and class biases in reality television. The lecture, titled, “Bachelor Babes, Bridezillas & Husband-Hunting Harems: Decoding Reality TV’s Twisted Fairy Tales,” will be held at VATC (Visual Arts and Technology Center), room 120, from 11:00 am - 12:30.

On March 3, I will be presenting the same program at the University of Texas-San Antonio. More details here.

And, later in the week (date being changed as we’d originally planned it for Thursday before we realized Texas’s primary is Thursday), Women In Media & News will be collaborating with the Texas Media Empowerment Project (led by our newest blogger, Deanne Cuellar) to conduct a skills-building media training to local women involved in grassroots social justice work in San Antonio.
