October 8th, 2009

On behalf of Women In Media & News, I’ll be doing a multimedia lecture presentation tonight on media coverage of women in politics, in Devil’s Lake, ND.

WHAT: “White Male Electile Dysfunction: Media Coverage of Women in Election 2008″

With multimedia clips, commentary and humor, this lecture uses media coverage of Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama during the 2008 presidential election cycle as a case study to investigate the role of the media in shaping our perceptions of political candidates. Students will learn how gender-based double standards often color political coverage in ways that are deeply detrimental to our democracy. Oh, and they’ll laugh. The clips guarantee it…

SPEAKER: Jennifer L. Pozner, Executive Director, WIMN

WHERE: Lake Region State College, Devil’s Lake, ND (for venue location, contact LRSC Diversity Committee / Student Senate)

WHEN: Thursday, October 8, 7pm
