Robin Andersen's Biography

Robin Andersen, Ph.D., teaches Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University and is the Director of the Peace and Justice Studies Program. She has written numerous journal articles and book chapters on media issues and the influence of TV and advertising on American society, including Consumer Culture and TV Programming (Westview Press), Critical Studies in Media Commercialism (Oxford University Press), and Media and War: Censorship, Propaganda and Myth in the Information Age. She is frequently interviewed as an expert source on media issues for radio, television and newspaper reporting.

Robin’s work has been published in a variety of magazines, scholarly journals and anthologies, and she is featured in numerous educational documentaries. Robin addresses college, community, legislative and media audiences on a variety of issues including: War and Media: Press Restrictions and the history of War Rhetoric; Globalization and Consumer Culture: Labor Practices and Environmental Justice; Criminal Justice and Docu-Cop Programming: The Death Penalty and the War on Drugs; Presidential Campaigns: Negative Advertising and Media Coverage; Commercialism: Advertising, Social Values, and Market Censorship; Mass Media and Public Opinion: Social and Political Influence of Television; and Race and Gender.
