Courtney Martin's Biography

Courtney E. Martin is a writer, filmmaker, and teacher whose first book--Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters: The Frightening New Normalcy of Hating Your Body--will be published by Simon & Schuster's Free Press on April 17th. Her work on eating disorders, ambition, and feminism has appeared in The New York Times, Publisher's Weekly, The Village Voice, The Christian Science Monitor, and Poets & Writers, among other national publications (see her website, www.courtneyemartin.com, for a complete list). She has a BA from Barnard College in political science and sociology and an MA from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study in writing and social change. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
