5-seconds-a-day way to support women’s media advocacy

Quick update on Friday’s post: WIMN’s Voices needs your vote — once a day, every day, until Dec. 15 — to win the Best Blog of 2006 Weblog Award. Without a budget for advertising and promotion, the dynamic conversation about women and the media that we’re hosting here has grown to 35,000 readers per month through word of mouth — winning “Best New Blog of 2006″ from “the world’s largest blog competition” could give us a great boost among new readers.

Thanks to those of you who’ve voted once or more for WIMN’s Voices. We need lots more of you to do so if we want to win — because voting began a day and a half before we were able to notify you about the poll, we’re currently trailing several motivated blogs in our category. By the time we knew that the polls were open, there were already hundreds of voted registered for several of the other nominees… so, all of you who’ve voted before, we’d [heart] you lots if you’d go back and vote for WIMN’s Voices again, ever 24 hours until Friday night. And if you haven’t voted yet, do not pass go, do not collect $200 — just go directly to the Weblog Awards and vote for WIMN’s Voices every day until Dec. 15.

As I said the other day: Voting for WIMN’s Voices as Best New Blog is free, it takes literally five seconds, and it’s the easiest way I can think of to show your support for the critical, challenging, diverse discussions about media, media, politics and pop culture that we’ve been having in this space since April.

Help us spread the word: If you have a blog, a website, an email list or a circle of friends who you can cajole into clicking our poll, please post an announcement of our nomination, and encourage your readers to vote for WIMN’s Voices every day until the 15th!
