The brilliant, biting Molly Ivins has died. She will be sorely missed.

Two days ago, I wrote in this space that Molly Ivins was losing her battle with cancer, and that the Berkeley Daily Planet was paying tribute to her by running one anti-war column per issue, in Molly’s name, until the Iraq war ends.

Today, it is with a broken heart that I share the news that Molly Ivins died yesterday, in her home, surrounded by family and friends. She will be sorely missed by every one of her hundreds of thousands of readers. Her voice is irreplaceable.

I feel this loss as if it were a very personal one, and can’t bring myself to write much at the moment. The following are some early obituaries; I’ll update this post with additional tributes and obits as I see them.

NPR also has a good roundup:

Discovering Molly Ivins was the beginning of my political consciousness. I, too, feel the loss keenly.
